DESCRIPTION:
French, Guilmet patent, "MYSTERY" clock, the movement housed in a heavy marble base, and the statue standing on a well hidden carriage that is free to turn back and forth. An arm on the carriage extends into the movement. The pendulum pulls on the carriage in one direction, unlocking the escapement, and then the carriage is given a push in the opposite direction keeping the sequence going, c.1885
CONDITION:
the spelter statue is in good condition. The marble base has suffered a bit from moisture in the air and has several gray spots that need to be polished out. Runs. Ht 25"
